Hi Carl, On the S/38 the RJE product was also a separately licensed program. I think it was called Communications Utilities (CM1). You needed it for true RJE device support (local punch, etc.). You didn't need it to do 2780/3780 BSC or SNA LU2 communications. That support was available in ICF files with the base OS. The same is true for the AS/400 today. If all you need to do is upload or download a file, you can pretty much do this with native BSC support using an ICF file and RPG program. If the connection is SNA it gets a lot more complex, but is do-able. If they are using SNA I would be inclined to go get the true RJE support for the AS/400 and use that.
