Domino: SMTPMTA configuration problem

Is anyone running Domino as a mail server on the AS/400 along 
with a POP3 server (also on the AS/400) through a firewall?  
Everyone we've found who has it working does not have a firewall.
The POP3 server works fine.  Domino can receive mail from the 
internet, but cannot send to the internet although internal mail to 
OV users and POP3 users routes fine.  Can anyone help with this?
