Thanks to all who wrote.  Bryan is right, sounds like too much work.  The reason
I don't follow Bryan's suggestion is that my ISP is still having problems with
SLIP connections and until he resolves his problem my company will be without
email.  Trying to find an ISP will to support SLIP is like finding a needle in a
haystack.  I'm at V3R7 but as I understand it I need to be at V4R2 and on a 
"new"
AS/400 (mine is, after all, a year and a half old, horrors) for a PPP 
connection.
