Loyd,

You can create a physical file with only the fields that you want in your 
output and specify that as the format in OPNQRYF. CPYFRMQRYF will use it to 
create a new physical file matching the layout of the format file. You can also 
use a query management query (which is part of OS/400, not an additional 
licensed program product).

Create a source member with an SQL statement, something like:

  SELECT FIELDA, FIELDB FROM FILEC ORDER BY FIELDA

Compile it with the CRTQMQRY command and execute it with STRQMQRY. By default 
it will display on the screen, but you can send the output to a physical file 
(it can be created on the fly by STRQMQRY), or to a printer.
