Do a WRKHDWRSC *CMN and look for V.24. If you want to see if it is in use by another line description you may take the option 5-Work with configuration descriptions. Often, an AS/400 may only have one; and it may be shared by some lines beginning with Q. If you're not constantly banging on ECS, (Electronic Customer Support), to IBM, then perhaps you can share this long enough to check your timeclocks. But if you have a free port I'd glom on to that instead. You can make your own cost justifications for a second line: 1) If we have IBM's Service Director setup it will call IBM and report hardware problems. Don't want to conflict with this. 2) If we have a problem configuring the line our timeclock vendor can have us do a STRRMTSPT and he can get in and check stuff out. We've had this happen. We are in the middle of implementing a nationwide timeclock program using Kronus equipment. (Not my project). +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
