Hmmmm.... It was always my understanding that news was supposed to be current 
and accurate in order to be considered as "news". It seems he's trying to make 
these announcements into news. How interested would people be in Alpha if people
understood that PowerPC-AS and the AS400 have delivered on the 64-bit promise 
for years while maintaining compatability with legacy software (which Alpha 
cannot promise). 

NEWS FLASH: Compaq scrambles to develop 64 bit strategy more than two years 
after the AS400, the most popular enterprise system in the world, introduced 64 
bit architecture to the business world. While no products actually exist as yet,
Compaq remains hopeful that "some day we'll have real technology too!" 

Doesn't seem much like news to me...... ;)

I sent a brief note to David last night. It had a congenial tone and was not 
inflammatory in any way. I copied his editor too. His reply seems just a tad
