No doubt.... At the very least, the business card industry will get a boost when
all of the "Y2K conversion specialists" and related job titles need to be
changed. :)

However, it seems that a LARGE portion of the legacy systems programmers doing
the conversions are being pulled out of retirement with a lure of lucrative
contracts and incentives. This redirection of IS $ limits the development of new
technology for the AS400 by leaving these legacy shops strapped for resources.
Once Y2K is done and gone, I'm hoping for a sort of renaissance (or "age of
reason" perhaps) where companies are replacing these "legacy" systems with newer
technology. This is when the AS400 could face its greatest threat from the evil
empire (ie. the NT overlords, who seem to have the power to cloud the heart and
mind of unwary IS managers everywhere.) Long live the AS400! Hail to the king!
;)

Not -dried- up--- =sopped= up. By all those companies staffing up for
their Y2K makeovers.

Makes one wonder if IS staffs will shrink once the Y2K problem is over?
