As a by-product of the V3R2 procedure support in RPG IV it became possible for RPG to use a number of functions that were originally intended for C/C++ programmers, particularly those porting code to the 400 from UNIX. A number of us have been publicizing this facility and the usage is now growing significantly. Is it a big deal? If you have need for AS/400 <-> PC interchange, yes it is. We're looking at providing more prototypes in RPG IV for these kinds of functions together with examples.
