Booth: I have not used JBuilder with the AS/400, but you can inadvertantly bring an AS/400 to it's knees using about any client-side product such as MSAccess, Visual Basic or Borland Delphi. The situation you're talking about sounds more like something that needs a PTF from either IBM or Borland. We had a similar problem with client access shared folder functionality when a file was open both on the PC and on the AS/400. The application would seem to go crazy and eat-up the machine about once every month or so yet not actually be doing anything. I also wouldn't completely abandon java based upon your first test with it, especially given that this is IBM's first attempt at implementing it on the AS/400, and it takes a few releases to get things to perform the way they ought to.
