The key fields do not need to be contiguous for a pgm described
file. This is assuming that the file itself is a native AS/400
file.

This has been true since the Sys/38 days and remains true until
at least V3R7. And none of our V4R1 or V4R2 customers have
complained yet.

Subject: Keying Program Described Files

Hi,

Is it necessary that parts of Composite Key used to Key a
Indexed Program
Described File should be contigious in the record.
RPG/400 User manual Topic- 7.2.1.1 says it should be continous.
But we feel it is not necessary that Parts of Key should be
continous in
record even for Program Described Files.

Is there any way to Key a Program Described Flat File without
creating
External DDS.

Thanx in advance

Regards,
Ramesh
