Hi Neil Palmer and All, Allow me to jog your memory. I need remote, dial-in access to an Advanced 36 model 9402-236. My IBM rep says that it's impossible to dial-in to a 236. She recommends upgrading to a 486. My client says they'll upgrade in about 10 years (they just bought the 286 last year and they want to use it a bit before upgrading). Several people, including Neil, tell me that it is quite possible to dial-in to a 286. So . . . page 40 of the X System 3x/4xx Warehouse catalog features a product named Bosanova Remote Autosync, which looks like it exactly matches my needs. Bosanova is a Windows 95 application, which allows you to use an autosync modem, such as a Hayes Optima, to connect to a Synchronous modem connected directly to an IBM system 3X/400. Will this product work in my situation? Does anyone currently use this product? Why would anyone choose to use a remote emulator card with a synchronous modem (also in the catalog), when it seems like the software only solution is simpler?
