We did this too. And we use a small module with two print functions: pprintf(printfile, ....) and pprintf_formfeed(printfile...) to handle print i/o as easy as i/o to stdin/stdout. No one has to care about the technical details, i.e. putting a blank before a normal line and writing a "1" to get a formfeed...
