Paul,

One thing I neglected to mention in my previous reply is that you should
check the PTF Cross-Reference information from your release to V4R2.
The PTF number for this is also listed in SF98420, but from V3R7 to V4R2
it is SF97051.

It is expecially important to check this if you have had specific
problems that a certain PTF has fixed on your present release. You want
to make sure the fix is either incorporated in the base of V4R2, or that
there is a PTF available.
If the PTF is available you want to see if it's on the latest cum
package (SF97420 can help there), or if you will need to order it
separately.

This PSP info is also available via the WWW:

The URL for the PSP info is
http://www.AS400service.ibm.com/as4sde/sline003.NSF/ALLPSPBYREL

However, due to likelihood of URL's changing when you're several levels
down into a site, I would suggest you go to
http://www.AS400service.ibm.com/as400/service.html
then select "Technical Information Databases", then "Preventive Service
Planning (PSP)",
then "All Preventive Service Planning Documents by Release".
