RE: dsppgm / dspobjd ?

T & D

One way of looking at it is that with the OPM the object (*PGM) was one
"compile" process. Source->Object. With ILE it is two "compiles"
Source->*Module->Object. So the *MODULE was created from a source file.
the *PGM was created from an object(a *MODULE) not from source. Hence
the DSPOBJD can't show it. It is consistent. You want to find which
source? Display the object that was created from source - The *MODULE.

(Note: Action Option 14 in PDM does a CRTBNDPGM command. This command
does the two step process. Creates a *MODULE in QTEMP then it creates
the *PGM object from that module)

Some programs are created from multple *MODULES(Multple sources) some from
a single one(CRTBNDPGM) you wouldn't want a inconsistent implementation of
the DSPOBJD would you? I mean, imagine having the DSPOBJD display the
source file name *SOMETIMES ???

Hello Folks,
I am wondering why it is with an OPM *PGM object I can use both the
DSPPGM & DSPOBJD command to id the source member that created it.
However my ILE *PGM (even though my ILE *PGM was created from only one
source member) the DSPOBJD will not ID the source member that created
it, and the DSPPGM command must be used for this purpose?
Incidentally the DSPOBJD command is one of the greatest commands that
can be aimed at an object. The information that you can get is GREAT...
and you can output it to a file ..too!
