In 18 years of writing RPG I finally wrote a program that directly Reads from and can Write to an ASCII PC file. I started playing around reading an .XLS file type and an .DIF file type, in Debug watching the "records" coming in. Weird stuff (with a captial 'W'), Annnnyway, I wrote (like it shows) to a comma dilimited file (.CSV) in a named directory in the IFS and then brought it up with Excel. If you don't 'See' QSYSINC it still might be there. Are you authorized to it?? It was on our machine (V3R2). It's a whole new world boys and girls. The IFS is in EVERBODY's future. Now then, I can't wait till Notes and Java are native. I may at least be able to interact with their files with RPG. (Jon P. if you're listening. I did it!!
