Any single firewall can (and should) a whole network - since all data
should come in via the firewall (otherwise, you're not realy protected
at all!). The AS/400 Firewall lives on an IPCS card, so the 400
overhead should be minimal. I will defer a discussion of the merits of
the firewall to other who know more of such products. I understand it
is the same as the Firewall One product.

One advantage may be that residing on an IPCS, it is in a hardwre
environment unfamiliar to most hackers.

I also understand that multiple firewalls might be appropriate in some
environments - the topology is the same, though - all traffic from the
public/untrusted network must pass through the firewalls before it can
get to the trusted network.
