We use a product called Fax*Star. It is a box separate from the AS/400. This
way
no AS/400 CPU power is used to run it. Basically it "watches" an outq and
faxes
anything put on the outq with the proper embedded codes in the spool file. No
AS/400
host software is involved. You just have to embedded the faxing commands in
your
spool files through your programs. There is software available from them to do
this stuff
on the fly.

The separate box can be connected to AS/400 with Twinax or it can be connected
to
your network (Ethernet or Token Ring). It can also be connected by coax for
mainframes.
Or by Serial RS232 for RS/6000, Dec Vax, or LAN. These different connections
can be
combined to allow connections to multiple hosts.

You can also obtain drivers/software for Win3.1 and Win95 to allow you to use it
from those types of machines.

This small blurb is from info I got from the company marketing brochure.
Please call
them for more info and to confirm what I said above. 1-800-200-5521
