Many useful suggestions have been sent in response to your message. However, it sounds like you have the option of choosing the character you wish to have as the end-of-record specifier on the PC side. Why don't you create a simple text file on the PC, and ftp it to the AS/400. That will determine the ebcdic to ascii correlation. I did this to test, and found out that if you want the "|" character in the resulting PC file, use a "]" on the AS/400 records.
