I'd be carefull with the "seldomly used files" part.  They may only be used
once a year, but are essential to that once a year process.

Yes.

Yes again.  Not only does a restore clear the 'Last Used Date', but it also
changes the 'Last Change Date' field to be equal to the restore date. :(

Likely not.  In the past I have done a DSPOBJD *ALLUSR/*ALL to an outfile
and saved that outfile indefinetly for later reference.  It's imperfect, but
it does give you some information.
