I'm not familiar with V3R7 but I'll hazard a guess anyway. When you save the library, specify a target release of V3R2 on the SAVLIB command. If that doesn't work and you screw-up the tape drive again, you don't have to IPL the entire AS/400 to get the tape drive back. Just set the RESET parameter on the VRYCFG command to *YES and you IPL the tape contol card without IPLing the entire system. We are using 8 mm tapes, doing an INZTAP on the V3R7 machine and then a SAVLIB. Programs (ILE COBOL) are created for V3R2 use. When we do a RSTLIB on the V3R2 model 300 machine, the tape stops working, the DEVD is damaged, the device goes to FAILED status and the CPU utilization hits the roof. If we vary the device off, the CPU utilization drops to normal, but the device cannot be varied back on successfully. It goes to RCYPND mode resulting in an IPL to get it back online. Any ideas?
