John,

I believe I said not all the sessions presentation are on the current
CD-ROM. For example, mine have never been on there for copyright reasons.
Others are not on there for various reasons, such as the speaker doesn't
turn the in, the speaker chooses to not include them, the speaker doesn't
do the lecture until the hour before the lecture is to start. Stuff like
that.

The decision to put the CD-ROM out was done without too much input from the
speakers. While the decision wasn't done in a closed-door meeting, it was
my impression that "Hey we're doing this, an everybody has to submit their
sessions for the CD-ROM, or the sessions will be canceled." A lot of us
speakers didn't react too fondly to that kind of thing.

I believe that we need to move towards advance CD-ROM with 80 to 90 percent
of the sessions on the CD-ROM in advance of the conference. Then, find some
technology that lets us put them in .PDF format just before the conference
and burn a final CD-ROM the week before. That way we can hand them out at
the conference. I realize a lot of stuff changes weeks before the
conference. So we should have a cut-off of, say two weeks before the
conference. If you're handout is not in by then, your session does not make
the CD-ROM.

Right now, we do this kind of thing, but to accommodate all the sessions,
we do it post-conference. And, I agree, getting the thing two weeks, or two
months later doesn't help--my mind is off COMMON at that point.

Thanks for your comments.
