RE: RE: DATE fields in RPG-IV Bob (See Jeff's comment at bottom) All I meant was 'We don't see no difference at all' We are converting all existing numeric date field to real date fields as part of Y2K project. Converting edits, and other date routines to real dates. As you know I use templates 'Heavily' and the process for converting in house programs is most cases(80/20 rule) is very predictable. The other point is that 'We don't have 38's anymore, Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuutttttt, we sure do have alot of files that were conceived on that platform'. How many out there do NOT have the first AS/400 they bought since 88????? How many out there DO HAVE files that were conceived on that box(or its predeceasor '38,'36) Thats my point, The data lives longer than any one CPU/Box. John P.S. (Below,) I'll let Jeff echo my findings P.P.S (Years ago when the "performance seminars" said not to use "variable name calls" in RPGIII because of 'poor' performance. I still used them because it was the right design technique, No performance Problems then either) >bob said< >> On existing systems (beige boxes, and other CISC processors) performance of >> date fields is bad. >Jeff said< >We have a CISC 300-2042.
