You can set 1 single IP for each TCP/IP adapter on your PC.  Each 
ethernet card has a single IP addr, each dialup connection 
configuration has a single IP (or dynamic, assigned by your ISP), etc.

Can you get another ethernet card for communication with the '400?  
That would be the simplist solution.  The ethernet card on the cable 
modem will have an IP and the 2nd 'net card would have another.
