There are many people concerned about do things when not in restricted state or IPLing the system. Yes, it would be nice to do a NONSYS or save the IFS file structure when not in restricted state. Yes, it would be nice to do quick IPLs because of your window. Warning, do not try to fool the system. I know of people who have fooled the system into thinking it was in restricted state when it was not. They had a crash. Quess what, their make believe NONSYS was NOT valid. Manager had to find a new job. Ugh!!!! Same will holds true with SAV command. I have never went to the store an got something for nothing. You have to pay for things!! A secure/safe system means you have to go to resticted state and IPL from time to time. IPLs will change in 4.1 but they still will have to be done. Currently, if you want the protection. Buite the bullet. Make management aware there is no such thing as a free lunch. Advise, if you are doing RCLSTG, RCLDLO etc. then save entire sysem. Do the reclaims after an not before. If RCL* blows up, you at least have a good backup. If you do before and RCL* blows up, update your resume. Peter H. O'Connor PAE 7 Riverway Rd.
