So what you are saying Neil, (by the MONMSG CPF3837), is that if the same
object is locked by some user every night, then the object never gets
backed up? Do you get a printout, joblog or whatever of what objects
were locked?

I back it up nightly (non-restricted) with the following code in my
nightly backup program:

/* Save objects from Integrated File System.       << V3R1+ >>       */
             CHGVAR VAR(&TAPEDEVB) VALUE('/QSYS.LIB/' *CAT +
                          &TAPEDEV *TCAT '.DEVD')
/* Example of DEV for SAV command '/QSYS.LIB/TAP01.DEVD' */

 SAV010: CHGVAR VAR(&SAVETAG) VALUE(SAV010)
             SAV DEV(&TAPEDEVB) OBJ(('/*') ('/QSYS.LIB' +
                          *OMIT) ('/QDLS' *OMIT) ('/QLANSrvSR' +
                          *OMIT) ('/QLANSrv' *OMIT) ('/qserver' +
                          *OMIT)) ENDOPT(*LEAVE)

MONMSG MSGID(CPF3837) /* Some objects not saved +
                          (cannot obtain lock). */

             MONMSG MSGID(CPF3794) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(ERROR)) /* +
                          Save ended abnormally. */
             MONMSG MSGID(CPF5101) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(ERROR)) /* +
                          Error on (tape) device */
             MONMSG MSGID(CPF5270) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(ERROR)) /* +
                          Tape device dropped ready. */
             MONMSG MSGID(CPF8105) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(ERROR)) /* +
                          Tape device description damaged. */
             MONMSG MSGID(CPF5349) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(ERROR)) /* +
                          Media error. */

SNDMSG MSG('Save of Integrated File System objects +
                          ran O.K.') TOUSR(*REQUESTER)

I have an IPCS, but only have it configured as a TokenRing adapter, so
have no server storage space to save.
