As I understand it, SETDSKCLN is a once-and-done per machine; you have to have the PTF that prevents the problem that SETDSKCLN detects applied at the same time. BEWARE: There is a bug in SETDSKCLN that requires a PTF (available now) to fix: If you have more than 85 disk arms, SETDSKCLN will hang your system! A second IPL (manual) will work correctly; SETDSKCLN apparently runs as a PTF... (and PTFs are not tried when manually IPLing). The PTF fixes the problem so SETDSKCLN will run properly. 85 disk arms, you say. Why 85? Well, because 85 x 3 = 255, of course! Some programmer 'assumed' that no one would have more than 85 disk arms. MY question is, 'How come we discovered this problem first?' We're late trying to go the v3r2, and we -can't- be the only site with more than 85 disk arms (although IBM -did- say that someone else had the very same problem just days before we reported it...)! --Paul E Musselman PaulMmn@ix.netcom.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the Midrange System Mailing List!
