Are you sure that you have a good telephone line/number?  It sounds like
you're having trouble dialing out.  Try connecting a telephone to the
"phone" jack on the back of the modem and then the number above ( "
<01256840771 " ). See if you even can connect to the modem at the remote end.  

BTW, do you have to dial "9" to get an outside line at your place of work?
