The original TAA tools had a CPYFRMSAVF and CPYTOSAVF that would convert
a save file to and from a physical file. Then download it via CA/400 in
UN-TRANSLATED format. Critical since the file may contain the full 256
set of byte values and the ASCII-EBCDIC translation tables are not an
exclusive one to one. 

I think this goes back to Bob's BBS, and was how S/38 utilities that
were downloaded to PCs could be uploaded.
