If you're talking about a tape cartridge, the AS/400 can read a tape
cartridge created on the S/36. You can do a FROMLIBR or SAVE on the S/36
and do a RSTS36LIBM or RSTS36F natively on the AS/400.

The S/36 can not read a tape cartridge created on the AS/400 no matter how
the save was done. This is a hardware formatting restriction, not a
software restriction.

The only removable media device compatibility going from an AS/400 to a S/36
is reel to reel tape or diskette as far as I know. Tape cartridge will not
work.
