I just read an article in the current issue of Midrange Computing (5.97) that talks about the twinax dropoff problem under discussion. Writer Tom Stockwell has reports of a CA/400 problem with long file transfers. He reports that the transfer aborts when the 5250 twin adapter times out. It is not a software problem. He says it seems to be the way Win95 handles DMA, IRQ, and shared RAM. He continues that Win95 shadows the shared memory for faster access and this causes a lag time for the older twinax cards and the result is that the card's I/O times out and the file xfer aborts.
