First of all, run the upgrade assistant on the v3r1 box to make sure all
objects are observable. If not, recompile them or delete them. Watch
out for objects you may need in QGPL or QUSRSYS - follow the road map
for a "Side-by-side" install. If you have Object Connect, use that to
transfer the files (it's a $1000 PRPQ for V3R1, or you could upgrade to
V3R2 which includes it for free). The CISC-to-RISC Redbook (contrary to
the Roadmap) recommends doing object conversion during the restore (as
opposed to running the restore job) - see the Redbook for more info.
The AP's will rebuild, which will take some time. But since object
conversion applies only to programs, I'd save the AP's rather than
rebuild them on the 40S. It really depends on the size of your objects
- the bigger they are, the more time saving the AP's will buy.
