Mark Welte, asks: "We have purchased an additional development machine. Our current machine is a 200 and the new one is a 40S. We are planning on doing a save/restore to move all of our test enviroments over to the 40S from the 200. Is it a waste of time to save the access paths when we do the save on the 200? Or, will help speed up the restore on the 40S? Will the access paths be rebuilt automatically when restored to the 40S? The 200 is at V3R1M0 and the 40S will be at V3R7M0. Is there any other gotchas we should be aware of?" I have always been a believer that if time is available, access paths should be saved. This will make the restore execute much faster since the access paths are already built. Restoring the first time on RISC takes more time than usual. Therefore, try to cut down on the amount of time needed for the restore. I sell a PC/Accelerator which reduces the amount of time upgrading to RISC. However, I do not recommend ignoring the road map. There are few times when enhancing the road map is allowed. My product does not ignore the basic ideas of the road map, it just enhances them. Follow the road map!!!!!!! The biggest gotchas come when one thinks they know more than the road map. Road map saves access paths Peter H. O'Connor PAE 7 Riverway Rd.
