We use ESS/400 to connect our touch-screen PC's to the AS/400.  It has
interfaces to Visual Basic and Access of which I'm aware, and others with
which I am not.  I don't know what sort of controls your torque guns require,
but I would HIGHLY recommend an APPC product like ESS over an ODBC
equivalent...
