The requirement for BS may be a human resources standard description.
Aim high on the requirements and choose from the applicants.
Don't expect that IT wrote the description, or if they did, that the person who wrote is "iSeries" centric.
I've seen some requirements lately looking for things like certification in
global e-commerce stuff, or security credentials.
Having several of the IBM certs for iSeries has made a difference for me in
several situations.

I too have an AAS degree ... and have often considered going back to
school and getting a BS ... but then I think what I would gain from it.

Considering I've got more than 20 years of experience in the industry,
I've always decided against it ... it's not going to get me more money
or a better job. The only benefit I can see is the knowledge that I can
do it.

An argument can be made that lack of the BS degree will exclude me from
some jobs ... but, truth be told, I wouldn't want to work for a company
that would exclude someone based on lack of a piece of paper.

Heck, the most talented people I know in the industry don't have BS degrees.
