The City of Medford, Oregon, is searching for an experiences iSeries RPG
Programmer/Systems Administrator. Incumbent retiring in early 2008.

SALARY: $4,810 - $6,142 per month

BENEFITS: City provided insurances on completion of designated waiting
periods: Currently City pays for full-family medical, dental, and vision
insurance (cost-sharing above a specified cap level); employee $50,000
term life and long-term disability. Twelve holidays, three weeks
vacation, and twelve days sick leave accrued per year. Eligible for
fully paid Oregon Public Services Retirement Plan after six months,
unless applicant is already an Oregon PERS member. 3.5% of salary
contributed by the City to a medical savings account.

DESIRED STARTING DATE: February 1, 2008

POSITION: This position's role is to provide application, system and
security administration of the City's iSeries server. This includes
maintaining the suite of business applications purchased from HTE,
providing programming support as needed; e.g., maintain custom
modifications, interfaces to external agencies. Similar types of support
functions are required for the Real Vision Software (RVI) document
imaging system. In addition to all iSeries application programming, this
position is responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring, and
troubleshooting all hardware and related software on the iSeries server,
as well as workload management, security, backups, archiving, and
recovery. Major responsibilities include:
* Install, configure, and maintain all 3rd party application software,
including any custom programming
* Perform hardware and operating system upgrades
* Manage PTF administration and 3rd party software updates
* Monitor system performance, manage system resources, and provide
status information as required
* Perform capacity planning, forecasting system upgrades and costs
* Manage system backups and handle tape rotations
* Create and maintain documentation as required
* Provide training as needed to end users, and to other IT staff for
iSeries support
* Perform analysis, diagnosis and resolution of system problems for end
users and support staff
* Provide off-hours on-call support as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience and Training:
* Bachelor's degree or technical training in a computer related field,
and a minimum of three years of related experience.
* Experience in iSeries administration, preferably with LPARs, HMC, and
BRMS
* Experience in RPG & CL programming languages, both ILE and OPM
* Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills (technical and
non-technical)
* Working technical knowledge of current systems software and hardware
* Ability to multi-task while involved in multiple projects through all
life-cycle phases
* Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment as
well as independently

Desirable Qualifications - Broad range of network and desktop knowledge
is highly desirable, including experience with:
* Network: Ethernet, TCP/IP, Windows 2003
* Desktop: Windows XP Professional, MS Office suite, emulation software
(BOS & IBM)
* Applications: HTE Community Development, HTE Financials, RVI document
imaging
