I agree that corporate greed is the real problem. I worked my way up from an operator trainee on 3 system/38's to be a project leader in the programmer department of my old company I worked at. This after 3 years in fast food trying to do my AA degree at night. I planned to work and retire there, and a few LBO's later, me and 8 others are booted and the headquarters moved.

The programming was outsourced too. So I am with Alex. I got lucky, I work now in the insurance industry and this small company is strong. On year 9 now. I hope it will last as long as possible.

As a father of two sons, I am discouraging them from the computer field, why waste their time in a market constantly shipping jobs overseas? People who keep saying it is a "world economy" and everyone should get with the program. I say they are have lost sight of what it means to be American in America. Screw NAFTA and the United North America crap. That is exactly what it is, crap. When you put another country or $$$ before the patriotism, you have lost your way.

Americans come first, why, because we are in America. Care for your brothers and sisters in this country should come first: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Nowhere does it say we have to take jobs from our people [Americans]to give to everyone else and be caretaker for every other backwater country on this planet. Listen to Lou Dobbs on CNN. At least someone represents the middle class. No one else does.

I am not prejudiced, I am objective! Should I have substituted Jewish by
Williamsburg based? and Eastern Indian by American headdress challenged? I
have friends of all nationalities I an American Citizen with Caribbean
Spanish descendants. It's the brazenness of the way companies pursue cheap
foreign labor that I find insulting.

Headhunters have pulled this time and time again " We have a long term 1+
year contract all our consultants stay there longer" then two months or so
later you get " due to budget cutbacks were ending your contract in two
weeks" that's happened to me at least 4 times while doing everything they
asked of me above and beyond most times. But the H1B's stay!

One question is there a way to negotiate a contract without being fooled
as to length of the project?
