I tried replacing the FRCDTA keyword with an INVITE keyword. Results
were interesting:
The screen still comes up with the keyboard lock indicator off. Which is
to be expected, and the same as it was with FRCDTA.
If I press an AID key while the splash screen was up, the keyboard lock
indicator comes on. Again, the same behavior as with FRCDTA.
If I let it default to bringing up the data screen (UDDS, through a
separate display file), then the data screen comes up, whether I've hit
an AID key or not.
But if I override it, e.g.:
VIEW FILE(WTDEVELOP/WTNOTE) SCREEN(*ATTR)
and press an AID key while the splash screen is up, then as soon as the
Field Attributes screen (an ordinary record in the same DSPF as the
splash screen) tries to come up, it throws a CPF4737,
> Output file VIEW in library AQVW830 on program device DSP05 not done.

So I can definitely detect that an AID key has been pressed before the
timeout interval.
