Uh, even if I knew how (I had
to read the aforementioned tutorial from Leif, just to know how to dump
it!), it's not something I'd care to risk.

Then create a copy of the SEPT (it's just a space after all), patch that, and then patch your job PCS to use your copy. That way if you screw up then then you'll only trash your job.
