LEIF,
you are probably right,it is probably STEVEs program. To the others who
answered, it makes about 16 parms of 80 long and sends a message about each
parmspace to help identify parms and lengths. It helps to resolve the
situation DAN BALE as posted in this thread. it is in the archives. DAVE
MCKENZIE was on my mind because i was remodifying an old s38 rpg 2 program
that you had dealings with that wrote pseudo mi from a dump, and i now
realize i have overmodified it and don't have the old copies. I also was
thinking of your name because i believe you used to have a RTVCMD that i
thought might be useful but can not find it. I work on someone elses as400
at work as a consultant with a small company called CrossUSA, its risc. I
have QSECOFR auth but I dont want to load a bunch of my stuff on it. The
contract is far more mundane than that.
my exact situation is the old one in which i snd and rcv a msg to get a
programs name in CL. I know an easier way in mi but the lesson was how to
get parms for QMHSNMSG and QMHRCVMS. The Send failure from QCAPTRS told me I
had to code MIN(5) on the OL(in a roundabout way of course) but the Recieve
error from QCAPTRS told me nothing (parameters passed do not match calling
program) so I know i need a min of X. Thanks for the tip on MAXA MINA DAVE.
I'll try it when i get home. That will help shorten the compile/dump time.
I am still in search of a method to forge pointers on cisc so I cannot get
to the headers directly yet, nor implement the memory explorer, but I know
its still doable. As you say LEIF, one has to work for a living as well.
LEIF, i was not going to bother you until after oct 15. You must have been
bored out there to answer this little post.
Some time ago there was a long thread in the archives kicking around what LE
meant when it was new, I firmly believe that IBM was paying homage to LEIF
saying in effect...........no, you spell it LEif not LIef as americans are
wont to do. By the way,LEIF in old norsk a SVAL is a shield and we still say
that those who still hold a home (GAARD) name are an old and regal people,
is SVAL a shield in Dansk?
