Actually, Toto makes some very good toilets.  They are particularly nice for
guest bathrooms near other social areas.  They are very quiet.  Even the seats
never slam down; they have a soft close which dampens the rate of descent.  They
also have a very large trap and we've never have problems even in the 1.6gal
flush design as required by code where I live.

I had never heard of them until a couple of years ago, but I'm surprised at the
number of people who have said: "You have a Toto?  I'm impressed."

(No I'm not making this up!)
