Especially when it's in system password bypass, since that allows us to stretch several months out of the bypass period. Both episodes happened, if I remember right, immediately after power failures during extended shutdown periods; I *think* it has been through shutdown periods of over a month without losing it, and I know it's been through power failures without losing it. After the first episode, I found and changed the control panel battery (on that model, it consists of three ordinary AA cells); that didn't stop the second episode. I've since set up a schedule that powers it up once a week whether it's in use or not. If that isn't it, however, I'd rather not find out the hard way. -- James H. H.
