have a look at Retrieve Data Queue Message (QMHRDQM) API - it does exactly
what you ask for.

How can I retireve the data from a data queue without removing the
data.  Using the QRCVDTAQ program removes the data from the queue, can I
read a data queue with an MI program and not remove the data.
