I don't understand - why would I want to permanently store results returned
from API ?
You say that *USRSPC is treated as a large array - but this is exactly what
I mean. Why would I want to permanently store this array ?

many of the APIs return their data in a user space that can be treated
as a large array. Applications may also use the array-structure to do this.
What you are saying is that it would be better for the APIs (and my apps)
to use files instead? So again we are abandoning a unique AS/400
trait for the more unix-like "just store it in a file".
