We recently came across this issue with Excel. The fix we used was to predefine the column as numeric with appropriate decimal if needed then load the data. We found this by googling the issue for additional reading. This also prevents leading zeros from dropping if present.

I have 15 character item numbers with alpha numeric data. Some of those numbers are converted to data like this 2.1E+007 using Excel addin to upload spreadsheet to iSeries. What do I need to do to the spreadsheet before importing to iSeries?
