Dale,
Thank you again for your response. Yes, the email address is good and I
would appreciate the PDF. I think that should be all I will need. Thank
you! The version is R7.8.
Is there any advantage to use special charges over comments then? I think
the client may want the tracking numbers at the end of the invoice, I will
have to double-check now. Special charges was the direction I got but also
that they were used like "comments" because of the 0 cost and charge.
Appreciate your help!
T Sidel

Numbers

T,

I actually searched for the program that did the comments with the tracking
numbers, pulling the data from the WorldShip interface file. I found it,
and
can send you that program as a PDF to your varsitynet.com address if that's
a
good address (I generally don't send to those addresses without
permission/request). After I got this email, I realized that's not what you

wanted, sorry. However, for the special charge stuff, just put them out as
though you were issuing a regular special charge line for the invoice, with
a
zero cost and charge. I would think that approach would be more
inconvenient -
the tracking#s will be at the end of the invoice, and will take more space
on
the printed form (or emailed form) than using comments.

Since I don't have my enhancement library readily available anymore (the
company
no longer exists, all I have is a backup tape), sometimes it takes me a
while to
get actual code. I don't have a full time system available anymore - I'm
currently doing consulting (a lot of non-XA stuff, unfortunately) and go
where
the winds of chance and opportunity take me. :)

The program I have works for everything from R6.0 through R7.8 - I have not
had
the opportunity to test it on R9, but I imagine it will work fine if you are
on
that.

Thank you for the replies. I haven't been able to get your document Dale.
Were you able to locate it?
I was told that all I had to do was write a OSAAREP record for each tracking
number as special charges with a zero charge. Does each record have to have
it's own off-ship group id and off-ship number? We are writing an '02' off
ship type to ship confirm the pick list. Then I need to write the tracking
number records.
I think your solution for the model# & VIN is what I'm looking for.
Thanks,
T Sidel

Eric, that's correct. I had the requirement/request from my customers to
list them all on the invoice.

BTW - what I put in the special charge lines were the model# and VIN of the
campers, type 0, no charge lines. That was a requirement from the finance
companies. I didn't put the tracking numbers in the special charge lines -
they were in the comments. But it would be much easier to put the tracking
numbers in special charge lines than comments - the problem would be the
invoices would be LONG! But it'd work...

Depending on how your tracking numbers are generated, you may be able to
just use the "master". Fedex uses a master to link to all others in a "n of
n" scenario. I believe UPS does this as well. These masters point to all the
others when following the parcels.

The link is dead (if it's to my web site) because the company (Fleetwood

no one responds by Monday, I'll see if I still have the document on my home
office PC. I do recall that adding comments isn't as straightforward as I
thought it would be. There is also a tracking number field you can use,
but it's limited to one tracking number. I used the comments because we
frequently had multiple packages with multiple tracking numbers.... And that
was the only way I could show multiple tracking numbers for a single
shipment/invoice.

I am looking for information on how to create Offline shipping special
charge records that will be interpreted as comments on the order.
Particularly multiple tracking numbers. I know the file to populate is
OSAARES0 but I'm not sure about which fields are required besides
Special
charge ID, a zero special charge and tracking number in the
description.
The Offline Shipping documentation I have is very sparse in this regard.

I've seen information on this message board from some years back (about
2004-2005) that there is a document by Dale Gindlesperger that
explains/shows how to do this. The link to download no longer works.
Does
anyone have a copy that they can share?

Thank You,
