Why are these people moving out from MAPICS?

Jim, why your company is moving out and what is the new ERP you are going for?

Rusty & Nick are correct. You can access them even after license expire.

Jim,

You will still be able to access all MAPICS files with any non-MAPICS
programs as well through Query/400, DFU, DBU, etc.

I have a client that is doing exactly that. They are moving off of the
AS/400 and Infor would even talk to them about renewing their license keys
for three months instead of a year. So, their license keys have expired but
they are still using non-MAPICS programs to access of the MAPICS data.

I've received conflicting responses on this question so I thought I'd pose
it the group...

Our company anticipates moving to a different ERP software solution within
the next year. My question is after the MAPICS software license keys expire
and the modules themselves become inaccessible, will the data files still be
accessible through the AS/400 Query utility? The correct answer to this
will determine how much historical data we port to the new application
suite. If we would still have access to the data files for data lookup
only, we will probably just migrate current year history.

An INFOR rep has indicated that the data files would not be accessible after
the keys expire. Is that a true statement?

Jim
