Hi Skip,

We (sort of) did that at FFT. We created a separate warehouse that was non-netted with MRP (whse B - for "Bond Room"), and put stuff in there. Since everything used by the company was in whse 1 as far as 99% of the people were concerned, that made it sort of invisible. The only place they'd see it was the Item Balance Inquiry - All Warehouses - and since we used the special MAPICS menu system rather than the standard one, if I didn't put the menu option on their profile, they didn't have it. There was nothing to prevent a user from manually overriding whse 1 with whse B on inquiries, but it just wasn't a problem. The vast majority of the users just didn't bother to change the default warehouse from 1.

Things were even easier that way for Browser, since their views and subsets were defaulted to whse 1.

That was sufficient, especially since only a VERY limited number of people had the ability to do interwarehouse transfers.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Hidding Invenotry numbers

I would like to move inventory to a hidden location/warehouse then when
needed move the same item back for use and consumption.

Only specific personnel would be able to see what is hidden.

Any ideas?
