Obviously with the Rel 7 and IDF, you could do neat things in specific
areas around content security, and other things like restricted work
spaces over subsets; So much more feature/function in the area of
security which would essentially let you "hide" data based on content and
your business requirements.

We did this for a customer specfically to restrict access to service/parts
stock and the IDF/Power Link made it possible relatively easily.

My .02 cents.

I am not sure if you can "hide" a location in the way you are
specifying,
with vanilla MAPICS. The only thing that is conceptually "similar" to
what you are stating is the "non-netting locations".

At least in Release 6, MAPICS provides a non-netting feature that allows
one to mark stocking locations that MRP will ignore during planning -
essentially it hides inventory from MRP. The flag is maintained on the
location detail record at IM, 7, 9, 3 Location Detail (see Screen 1).
Set
Location Type to 1 to exclude from MRP.

>From within MRP's Item Requirements Inquiry, one can see the total, and
non-Netting, on hand by pressing F21=Item Detail (see Screen 2), and
roll
to page 3 (see Screen 3). In the example below, there are 76 total on
hand, 32 non-netting, so MRP will only see 44 available.

(Note: you cannot do this to "QC" locations.)

My $0.02 cents...
