Chris:
Could you develop something that uses the COM files to give you the
detail? We put in some exit programs to populate our own files to use for
many of the Sales/Ship type reports.

Re: [MAPICS-L] MTHACTE file - Sales reporting
Yeah, I've thought about that.
The system I'm using helps to find errors but I'm not sure I can turn it
into the kind of detail they need here. The MTHACTE file provides that.
It would be nice if it worked.
I'm going to think about it some more.
Thanks!

Chris:
Since you have a report that shows what it should be, why cant you use
that? Typically trying to find these errors is difficult, especially
when dealing with COM/Shipping/Invoicing.
You have already written a report that determines what is really
happening, so I think I would continue using that as your base.

[MAPICS-L] MTHACTE file - Sales reporting
Hello group,
I'm at the end of my rope here.
I'm at a customer that makes extensive use of the MTHACTE file. To the
point that they want/need it to balance out to the penny.
Around the beginning of this year, I was given the task of
figuring-out/fixing why this file is so drastically wrong all of the
time. I worked with the hotline and we are up to date on PTFs now. But
MTHACTE is just as wrong as it ever was. (We know this, BTW, because of
a report I've developed that calculates what it "ought" to be by mashing
together backlog at the beginning of any given month, backlog now and
shipping this month.)
The problem appears to be on the "negative" half of the pair generated
whenever any order maintenance is performed. The net sales on this
record is sometimes completely wacky.
Of course, I can never recreate this problem on demand.
I will admit that the order entry personnel here do some unusual
gymnastics in order entry/maintenance, but nothing they shouldn't be
able to do.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Should we just punt and develop some sort of new data mining solution?
(I'd love some ideas there, BTW.)
Thank you.
