Yep! But if OPWFU is accurate, and the parts aren't used in multiple
operations (or it's acceptable to bring it all in at point of 1st usage),
and the items are planned as PRDPC = "A", and they are good at swiping
their ops on schedule and accurately, there should be a way to massage the
data, post-MRP, to make it do (sort of) what he wants, by changing the
REQMTS/PLNORD/REQHDF/whatever dates to match the operation start dates
using OPWFU. At least, that way it's not as expensive as an APS. It
sure won't be an easy thing to design completely, but for a long enough run
time job, it would probably be worth the effort, especially if the parts
are expensive enough in cost or storage space.

Or run MRP, and build a "delivery report" based on OPWFU dates....... work
from there.

An APS solution would be the ideal thing (if it's designed correctly for
them - there are MANY variations out there, as Joe Phelan mentioned in an
earlier post), but they are also pretty expensive, and can be a bear to
load the schedule for up front.

But if they

Please respond to

Now I admit I am not intimately knowledgeable about XA's MRP
capabilities... but your talking about the classic push software trying
to do a pull system ala square peg round hole situation.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] JIT tie in to MRP

Hello everyone,

We are at MAPICS XAR6 and our OS is V4R5.

What we would like to do is have MRP tell us when to schedule our
over a period of time, phased, instead of all at once. Something like
JIT. We have many long running, weeks to months, jobs and MRP tells us
have all of the material ready when we start the job, which isn't

Has anybody done anything like this?

Vendor responses welcome.
